Loft Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Loft app for Android, provided by Shanghai VeloTract Information Technology Co., Ltd. (上海轻引信息技术有限公司) ("we," "our," or "us"). For Android support, write to android.feedback@velotract.com. Privacy requests go to contact@velotract.com.
1. On-Device Processing
Loft is a local-first reader. The Markdown text you paste and the files you open are processed entirely on your device. Our servers never receive your document content.
Reading history, reading position and your settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Loft has no account system, so nothing you read is tied to an identity with us.
2. Purchases
Loft Pro is an optional, non-consumable one-time purchase with no subscription. Google Play processes purchases and restores them. We do not receive your payment-card details.
Loft keeps only the minimum local entitlement state — the product identifier from your last successful ownership check — so that Pro stays unlocked on this device while Google Play is unreachable. We do not operate a purchase-verification server: entitlement is held client-side by Google Play's response on your device.
3. Information We Collect
Analytics and diagnostics in Loft are off by default and start only after you turn them on in the onboarding screen or in Settings. The app is fully functional without them.
If you consent, the app sends a fixed catalog of events — never free-form logs or document payloads:
- Product interaction: app cold start, a document being opened, reading scroll progress, and reading session end with its duration and exit reason
- Rendering performance: success or a bounded failure category, the reader template, the document length in characters, and timing
- Technical context: app, operating system, device, network, locale, time zone and session information
- A random identifier for this app installation; each reading session and rendering also carries random identifiers that are not derived from your content
- An approximate country or region associated with the analytics request. Loft does not request a location permission and does not use GPS
Analytics and diagnostics never include your Markdown content, file names, file paths, links, content hashes or share targets.
4. Viewing This Policy in the App
When you open this policy from Loft, the app hands the page's address to your browser. That request goes to our website and does not include your Markdown or local files. See our Website Privacy Policy for how the website handles standard web-request data.
5. How We Use and Share Information
We use consented analytics and diagnostics to understand how Loft is used, maintain reliability, and improve the app. A service provider processes it on our behalf for those purposes.
Your data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with data brokers. We do not engage in cross-company tracking.
6. Retention and Deletion
We retain analytics and diagnostic information only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and improve Loft or to meet legal obligations. You may request deletion by emailing contact@velotract.com. We will delete information we can reasonably identify unless we must retain it by law. Because Loft has no accounts, we may ask for information needed to locate the relevant installation data.
7. Your Choices
You can turn analytics and diagnostics off at any time in Settings. Turning them off stops collection immediately and does not affect Loft's features. Turning them back on takes effect the next time you open Loft.
Turning collection off does not automatically delete information already sent; you can request deletion as described above.
8. Device Backup
Loft uses Android's standard app-data backup. Depending on your device and Google Account backup settings, Android may include app data such as settings and reading history in your device backup. That backup is controlled by your Android and Google Account settings, not by Loft, and you can turn it off in Android Settings.
