BrightTrace Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This policy covers BrightTrace, an iPhone app provided by Shanghai VeloTract Information Technology Co., Ltd. (VeloTract). It explains the app's data practices and the choices available to you.
2. Records kept on your device
BrightTrace stores the profile details you enter, such as a nickname and optional birth date or areas of focus, along with daily care records: food and drinks, supplements, sleep, behavior and emotions, training and activities, and bowel observations. Routine plans, check-ins, notes and optional meal photos are stored with the app on your device. BrightTrace uses these records to show a timeline and generate descriptive comparisons locally.
No BrightTrace account is required. We do not operate an account or cloud-sync service for these records, and BrightTrace does not send core records or photos to VeloTract. BrightTrace uses the iOS system photo picker. It does not request access to your photo library and receives only the photo you select for a meal record.
3. Local reminders and diagnostics
Routine reminders are optional and off by default. If you enable them, iOS schedules notifications on your device. You can change the reminder setting in BrightTrace and manage notification permission in iOS Settings.
BrightTrace may write limited technical diagnostic messages to the device's system log. The app does not send those log messages to VeloTract. Any system-level diagnostic sharing is controlled by iOS and your device settings.
4. Purchases, email and PDF sharing
If you choose an Insights subscription, Apple processes the purchase through your Apple account. BrightTrace checks purchase status on your device to provide access to the subscription features; VeloTract does not receive your payment details or operate a purchase account server. Apple shows available plans and terms and manages billing and cancellation. You can use Restore Purchases in the app to check an existing subscription.
If you email ios.feedback@velotract.com, we receive your email address and message so we can respond. Your email provider also processes that message. Please include only information needed to explain your question.
A child summary PDF is generated on your device. It leaves BrightTrace only if you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet. The app does not send a shared PDF to VeloTract; the app or service you select handles it under its own practices.
5. Deleting records and system backups
You can delete an individual record from the timeline, remove a child profile and its records, or clear all local data in BrightTrace Settings after confirming. Individual record deletion has a brief undo window. Uninstalling BrightTrace also removes data stored only in the app on that device.
Apple device backups are separate from BrightTrace sync. Depending on your iOS backup settings, a backup may include app data. Apple and your device settings control those backups; deleting app data or uninstalling BrightTrace does not ensure that copies already in a backup are removed.
6. Changes and contact
We may revise this policy as BrightTrace changes. The effective date above identifies this version. For questions about this policy or the app, contact ios.feedback@velotract.com or visit the BrightTrace support page.
